Automatic doors form an integral part of your building - and as such ensuring the safe operating condition and effective maintenance falls under the building owner / operator under the Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA).
Automatic doors are also classed as a machine under the machinery directive - meaning that owners and operators are both civilly, and criminally liable to any harm casued to people on site as a result of a dangerous installation. The eaiest way to control this risk is through effective maintenance.
The general guidance is to maintain assets 1-2 times per annum, though the frequency of schedulled maintenance visits should reflect the risk and usage of your assets.
